[DEMADO PROJECT] Vol.4 Kumi Kawashima "Treasured Memory Box" (Tamatebako-dou)

The 4th exhibition for DEMADO CONTEMPORARY ART PROJECT will be an interactive installation project titled "Treasured Memeory Box" (Tamatebako-dou) by artist Kumi Kawashima from Kumamoto.

Inspired by the famous Japanese folktale Urashima-taro, Kawashima makes Tamatebako boxes and exhibits them at shop window of an imaginary store called "Tamatebako-dou" (Treasured Memory Box Store). Audiences are asked to participate too, writing down a best or happiest memory in life to be put inside the boxes. The show will be on from November 19th through December 28th, 2011.

The artist will be present at the opening reception on November 19th, from 5:00 pm. Please bring your own "best memory in life" with you to the reception. Your participation in the project will be cordially welcome.

[ARTIST] New additions to artworks of Ayako Kurihara and Yoonjeong Choi
[EVENT] Participated in Kawaramachi Award 2011 as guest judge

Like in 2010, AH took part in "Kawaramachi Award 2011," which took place on September 11th, 2011, in the town of Kawaramachi, Kumamoto Prefecture, as one of the guest jugdes for "Contemporary Art Division."

This year, we awarded the "HRD Prize" to photographer Yuki Toyoda, who presented black and white photographic works taken in Nepal. As a part of the prize, we are planning to exhibit her works at the Demado Project Gallery in 2012.

[ARTIST] Ayako Kurihara's new "Mind Games" project has been launched

As her second attempt of collaboration project of performance/installation series, "Mind Games," which is based on the rules of a board game called "Reversi" or "Othello," artist Ayako Kurihara is now working on a new project titled "Conversation with KANAKO NAGAI," in collaboration with the performance artist Kanako Nagai.

Preparatory discussions and talks between the two artists are published on the website dedicated to the project.

[ARTIST] Ayako Kurihara will participate in a stage performance with her video works

Artist Ayako Kurihara will be among 8 female artists (dancer, musician, visual artist etc.) to show a stage performance at Kannai Hall in Yokohama on August 27th. The stage is titled "Rose: A Woman's Life," in which each of 8 artist will freely interprete and perform an allocated ten-year period of an imaginary woman's lifetime from birth to death at 80 years old. Kurihara will project her video works onto the screen on stage to present the woman's life in her sixties and seventies.

[ARTIST] Yuna Ogino participates in two group shows in Tokyo

Artist Yuna Ogino will participate in two group shows to be held at galleries in department stores in Nihombashi, Tokyo.

[DEMADO PROJECT] Collection exhibition: Yoonjeong Choi's "Remembering, Being Remembered..."

Currently at the window gallery of DEMADO CONTEMPORARY ART PROJECT, Korean painter Yoonjeong Choi's "Remembering, Being Remembered..." is on display as collection exhibition. The painting was among the exhibits at Art Fair Kyoto 2011 in May 2011 as well.

[DEMADO PROJECT] Collection exhibition: Midori Terashima's "Okuniwa - Fever"

Currently on display at the window gallery of DEMADO CONTEMPORARY ART PROJECT as collection exhibition is Midori Terashima's painting titled "Okuniwa - Fever." This artwork was also exhibited at the artist's solo exhibition titled "Lingering Landscape - Light (Atelier Museum Vol.14)" held at Hirakata Municipal Gotenyama Art Center in November 2010.

[EVENT] "Open Studio Walk: Kyoto Aperto 2011" in May

"Open Studio Walk: Kyoto Aperto 2011" will take place for the first time in May to coincide with Art Fair Kyoto to be held at Hotel Monterey Kyoto.

Several artists based in Kyoto city will open the doors to their respective studios, be it an old townhouse or a former factory, and the visitors will be welcome to experinece the genuine atmosphere of the place where works of art is conceived and created. [DEMADO PROJECT] VOL.3 "Conversation with Mr. H" by Ayako Kurihara currently on view

The 3rd installation exhibition of DEMADO CONTEMPORARY ART PROJECT, titled "Conversation with Mr. H" by Ayako Kurihara has been on view since the start of March at the window gallery annexed to HRD Fine Art's office.

Kurihara recorded 'Othello Game' (or 'Reversi') played between Yokohama (the artist) and Kyoto (HRD Fine Art) with the help of the internet (Facebook, to be precise) as stamp-painting, and the resulting drawing is now exhibited at the window gallery. The show, which is meant to be viewed from the street in front of our office, is scheduled to last until June 1st.

The game was started on January 14th, 2011, and then finished on February 23rd, with no more spot left to be filled.

The 3rd installation for DEMADO CONTEMPORARY ART PROJECT is titled "Conversation with Mr. H" by Ayako Kurihara.
Kurihara records 'Othello Game' (or 'Reversi') played between Yokohama (the artist) and Kyoto (HRD Fine Art) with the help of the internet as stamp-drawing, and the resulting drawing will be exhibited at Demado Project from March 1st through to June 1st.
The game has been launched on January 14th, 2011, and it will be terminated at the end of February or when the board has been filled up.

[DEMADO PROJECT] DEMADO PROJECT Collection Exhibition: Ayako Kurihara's "Ivy"

To anticipate the forthcoming installation project of DEMADO CONTEMPORARY ART PROJECT, Ayako Kurihara's "Conversation with Mr. H," scheduled to be on display from March 1st, we are currently showing the photographic work of Kurihara, titled "Ivy" at the window gallery. "Ivy" is a part of the series called "Pictures," in which the artist puts together the painting(s) of flower/plant painted by herself and real living flower/plant and captures them within one photographic plane.
